Definition of active voice and passive voice.

Active voice In most English sentences with an action verb, the subject performs the action denoted by the verb.     Because the subject does or "acts upon" the verb in such sentences, the sentences are said to be in the active voice. Passive voice One can change the normal word order of many active sentences (those with a direct object) so that the subject is no longer active, but is, instead, being acted upon by the verb - or passive. What is common noun? [ With examples] A common noun is the generic name for a person, place, or thing, e.g., boy, town, lake, bridge. Common nouns contrast with proper nouns, which are the given names (or titles) we give to things, e.g., Peter, New York, Lake Superior, London Bridge. What Are Nouns? (with Examples) Nouns are words that represent people, places, or things. Everything we can see or talk about is represented by a word. That word is called a "noun." You might find it useful to think of a noun as a "naming word." Often, nouns name things we can touch (e.g., "lion," "cake," "computer"), but sometimes they name things we cannot touch (e.g., "bravery," "mile," "joy").
